About me
As an Senior Engagement Specialist at Robeco’s Active Ownership department, Yumi specializes in engaging with companies globally on ESG-related controversies and human rights issues, encouraging them to conduct business practices that are in compliance with international standards such as the the OECD Guidelines and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. She works closely with Robeco’s investment teams and chairs an internal committee that evaluates and makes decisions regarding Robeco’s investments in companies in breach of those standards. Yumi has led Robeco’s recent launch of a new engagement theme ‘Modern Slavery in Supply Chain’ and will be engaging with several companies in sectors exposed to modern slavery risks. Prior to Robeco, Yumi worked for Sustainalytics where she held various leadership roles across Asia and Europe, including leading the research teams that assess companies’ ESG controversies and human rights violations. Yumi holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and a bachelor’s degree in law from Hokkaido University in Japan.
