About me
My name is Agni Mentaki Tripodi, an International Consultant and Lecturer on Business and Human Rights.
I spent 11 years in various Marketing Management / Brand Management and Business Development positions in FMCG, luxury goods/cosmetics, food/nutrition and the pharmaceuticals industry.
For the last 10 years, I have been working in the ESG/ Business and Human Rights field with the UN, businesses, governmental, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as with academic institutions in South East Asia, Europe, Africa region and the Russian Federation.
Below are a few highlights of my career accomplishments which include:
Streamlining numerous Business and Human Rights programmes by providing technical advisory, training, awareness-raising, and capacity building support to governmental agencies, corporate businesses, labour unions, CSOs and academic institutions. Disseminating information on Business and Human Rights to provide Businesses and NGOs with basic knowledge and tools on BHR/UNGPs/Human Rights Due Diligence, strengthening adherence of the business sector to human rights practices. Playing a crucial role in the enforcement of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) as well as in the adoption of a National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP-BHR) in the Philippines and in Tunisia.Advocating ethical and sustainable business development by developing and delivering the first Business and Human Rights course for the students of the Institute of Law and National Security (ILNS) of RANEPA in Russia and the students of the School of Engineering of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.
In September 2021, I worked as an International Consultant on Business and Human Rights of UNDP in a project instrumental in analyzing how to move the Business and Human Rights (B+HR) discourse forward and implement a long-term B+HR project in Tunisia. The main objectives of my work were to address the linkages between fisheries’ value chain and human rights risks in business operations, drive progress on B+HR through technical advisory, awareness-raising, and capacity building support to the government, businesses, and CSOs.
My most recent engagement is with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Tunisia in 2022-2023 when I worked as International Expert on Responsible Business conduct, to promote Responsible Business Conduct in Tunisia, with a particular focus on Human Rights Due Diligence in global supply chains and leveraging the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights for a just recovery. In this context I conducted the Context Assessment on Responsible Business practices in Japanese Supply chains in Tunisia.
