Iqbal Ahmed Detho is currently Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission since March 2023 and former Member from Sindh for National Commission on the Rights of Child 2020-23. He has been Human/Child Rights Trainer and Educator since last 15 years. He is also member of various Provincial Monitoring Committees Government of Sindh on Human Rights related matters and also member of Curriculum Development Program of Sindh Police. He has worked in development sector as Provincial Manager (Child Rights ) for the Society for Protection of Rights of Child (SPARC) in Karachi and Islamabad .More importantly an association with Amnesty International Pakistan, where remained as volunteer Secretary General of Pakistan from 2001-2006. He received a Master of Science in "Human Rights" from the London School of Economics, UK , 2007-8 as Chevening Scholar and Hubert H Humphrey Fellow (Law & Human Rights), at Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, USA 2011-12.
He has attended Summer Course on International Criminal Court (ICC), Irish Centre for Human Rights, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland July 2004.
He has certificate on "Child Rights " from Summer School, University of Nottingham , UK (2015). In addition to that he has conducted studies on the issue of tribal and Informal/traditional justice in Pakistan and Prevention of Child Marriages and Killings in the name of Honour for various stakeholders. He has co-authored "Protecting Human Rights: Training module for Police officials" 2014 and "Community Policing “2018. He has conducted review of Human Rights/Child rights related laws at National and Provincial levels. He has also co-authored toolkit on "Juvenile Justice System in Pakistan" 2019 published by UNODC -Pakistan office and Sindh Judicial Academy. He has recently authored “ Domestic Child Labor in Pakistan 2023“ published by FES a Islamabad based German Foundation.
