H.E. Mr. Achsanul Habib has been Deputy Permanent Representative I of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations, World Trade Organization and Other International in Geneva since August 2023.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Ambassador Habib served as Director for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, from April 2018 to August 2023.
Other foreign posts that Ambassador Habib held include Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York (2015-2018), Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations, WTO and other International Organizations in Geneva (2008-2012), and Second Secretary at the
Embassy of Indonesia in Pyongyang (1999-2004).
Ambassador Habib has held numerous posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, including as Deputy Director for North and Central American Affairs (2012-2015), Head of Section in the Directorate of ASEAN Political-Security Cooperation (2006-2008), Head of Section in the Directorate of ASEAN Economic Cooperation (2004-2005), Political Officer in the Directorate General of Political Affairs (1999), and Political Officer in the Executive Office of Non-Aligned Movement of Indonesia (1996-1999).
Ambassador Habib holds a master’s degree in Policy Studies from the Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan, and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Padjadjaran University, Bandung, Indonesia.
