About me
My name is Flaviano Bianchini, and I am an environmentalist, activist, and advocate for social justice. Born in Italy, I have dedicated much of my life to addressing environmental issues and human rights, particularly focusing on the impact of extractive industries in vulnerable communities.
I founded Source International in 2012, an organization that empowers communities affected by mining and other extractive activities by equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to defend their rights and their environment. Through science, data, and education, we aim to shift the balance of power towards those who are often marginalized.
I have always been passionate about exploring the intersections between nature, science, and justice. My journey has taken me to some of the most remote and challenging areas of the world—from the high Andes to Africa—working alongside indigenous communities, activists, and grassroots organizations.
When I am not in the field or advocating for justice, I run up and down mountains and read books. Sometimes I also write books.
